The City of Pointe-Claire wins Leader in Sustainability Award for second consecutive year
The City of Pointe-Claire is proud to announce that it was the recipient of the 2023 Leader in Durability award in recognition of the City’s commitment to the environment and strong battery collection results, thanks to the various collection points available in municipal buildings. This is the second consecutive year that Pointe-Claire and its citizens have been recognized by the organization Call2Recycle Canada for their sustainability efforts.
Over of the course of 2023, the City of Pointe-Claire collected an outstanding 3,077 kilograms of batteries, which would otherwise end up in local landfills. With our help, the organization Call2Recycle Canada was able to divert a record-breaking 6 million kilograms of batteries from landfill.
We would like to thank our residents’ effort over the last two years, and we encourage all to continue disposing of their batteries at the following collection points, located in the following municipal buildings:
- Bob-Birnie Arena (58 Maywood Avenue)
- City Hall (451 Saint-Jean Boulevard)
- Aquatic Centre (60 Maywood Avenue)
- Public Library – Central (100 Douglas-Shand Avenue)
- Public Library – Valois Branch (68 Prince-Edward Avenue)
Permanent Collection Points
In addition to having numerous battery collection points, the City offers several other collection points at its facilities for small electronic items, cork, polystyrene (Styrofoam) and other hazardous waste. By using the various collection points to dispose of your waste, you’re helping to reduce the number of items ending up in landfills.
