Two members of the Pointe-Claire Volunteer Rescue Unit appointed as Director and Associate Director

The City of Pointe-Claire is proud to announce that Bruno Demmerle and Marianna Ferraiuolo have been appointed Director and Assistant Director, respectively, of the Pointe-Claire Volunteer Rescue Unit (PCVRU).

Mr. Demmerle, who served as Assistant Director of the PCVRU this past year, is elated to take on his new role as Director of the organization. As Director, he will be overseeing the several highly trained volunteers capable of intervening in several emergency situations, including search and rescues, power failures and assisting in flood situations.

As for Mrs. Ferraiuolo, she becomes the first woman to hold an administrative position with the PCVRU in the organization’s 73-year history. In her new role as Assistant Director, she will pride herself in ensuring that her unit’s operations run as safely, professionally, and efficiently as possible.

As part of their new duties, they will also be involved in the recruitment and mentoring of new organization members and act as liaisons with community organization in an effort to promote the PCVRU.

A passion for helping their community

After a 35-year career as a professional Social Worker with the CIUSSS Ouest-de-l’Île, Mrs. Ferraiuolo’s itch to help and be involved with her community to did not subside, as she would go on to join the PCVRU in 2021.

The organization’s values and methods of operation very much aligned with her own. Her career experience in social work and her strong work ethic allowed her to succeed as a volunteer with the organization, and she would soon be appointed as Training Officer of her unit. She would be named Member of the Year in both 2022 and 2023, in acknowledgement of her outstanding work with the organization.

Similarly to Mrs. Ferraiuolo, Mr. Demmerle had a strong desire to be involved and serve his community. After being appointed Administration Officer with the PCVRU in 2022, and soon after promoted to Assistant Director in 2023, he would hone his leadership skills and enable the organization to continue offering the best resources and services for Pointe-Claire residents in need.

We would like to once again congratulate them for their new roles with the PCVRU, as well as their unwavering dedication to serving the Pointe-Claire community.
