General Information for Residents Near a Construction Site

Will work be taking place in your area soon? Do you have several questions regarding the procedures to follow during the construction period? Here are some answers to your questions!

Authorization Certificate with the Urban Planning Department

Do you want to take this opportunity to expand your driveway? We invite you to submit a permit application to the Urban Planning Department by email at urbanisme@pointe-claire.ca or by phone at 514 630-1206.

Please note that the processing time for a duly completed application with all supporting documents is 30 days.

Collections

Due to the work being carried out in your area, are you wondering where to place your collection bin? After 6 p.m. the day before collection, please place your bins, leaf bags, bulky items, and padded articles on your driveway, at the edge of the public road. The contractor is responsible for moving them to the correct location for pickup.

Claims

Do you believe that damage to your property has been caused due to the ongoing construction site? Please note that a claim must be submitted within 15 days following the incident to the Legal Affairs and City Clerk's Department.

We strongly advise you to take timestamped photos before the start of the work from the inside and outside of your residence to provide evidence when making your claim.

Persons with Reduced Mobility

If you or someone in your household has reduced mobility or another situation that could be affected due to the work, contact the Engineering Department at 514 630-1208 or at ingenierie@pointe-claire.ca. We will work with the contractor to assist the affected individuals.

Moving

Are you planning to move during the work period? We ask you to contact the Engineering Department at 514 630-1208 or at ingenierie@pointe-claire.ca as soon as possible to coordinate a schedule that works for everyone.

Lawn Watering

Due to the work, sod has been installed on your property by the contractor to cover the area defined by the site supervisor. Following the installation of this lawn, you are responsible for watering and maintenance. Tips will be provided to you via a door hanger after the installation. The City will also carry out several maintenance rounds during the first year.
