8 Steps To Applying for a Summer Job 

Great news, you found a job that interests you! Here is the step-by-step play of how to apply for the role. Summer job postings are not listed for a long time so, be sure to complete and submit your application before the closing date which is noted on each job description. Apply today and good luck!

1 – Your CV 
Before beginning the application process, be sure the information on your CV is up-to-date and properly formatted. Ideally, your CV should be formatted in an easy-to-read layout and to preserve the layout, it is recommended to save in a PDF format.

2 – Job Description
Take a moment to read the job description which describes what the role is about, responsibilities and the requirements.  If you meet the requirements of a job, select the I AM INTERESTED button located at the bottom of the page to begin the application process.

3 – My Profile
You have now landed on the My Profile page.  Creating a Profile simplifies the application process for you! Once your profile has been created, it will be easier to apply for the different summers jobs and not need to complete an application for each position. If you are a returning user, simply log back in and update your profile before applying to various positions.  

4 – Review of CVs
When the job posting close, the Human Resources team will review the applications to identify candidates that best match the job requirements.

5 – Phone Interview 
If your profile is selected, we will contact you to schedule a phone interview. This initial conversation is a great opportunity for you to showcase your motivation and for us to learn a little more about your background. Note, only candidates selected for consideration will be contacted for an interview.

6 – Interview 
Promising candidates will be invited to meet with our selection committee. This is our chance to get to know you better — and for you to present your assets and interest and of course, learn more about the summer job at the City!

7 – Checks 
Depending on the position you are applying for, we may carry out:
•    Professional reference and criminal background checks.
•    Psychometric assessments to better understand your aptitudes and personality.
    
8 – Offer
If everything checks out, you will get an offer to join our team
