The Bin Team hockey player keeps a cool head and a clean zone: she knows a real pro never dumps the wrong stuff in the wrong bin. Our soccer pro loves to pass the message across the city to make sure everyone is in the right position to score a clean goal for the environment. The Bin Team swimmer knows the power of being focused on the right technique to keep sorting simple.
The Bin Team is cheering Pointe-Claire towards a cleaner future and reminds us that every right sort is a small victory that adds up to a big win. Join the Bin Team and play our part to win big!
Why Reducing at the Source Matters
Before any bin comes into the picture, that is the blue, green or black bin—the biggest victory happens at the source. Reducing waste before it’s created is the real championship move. When we cut down on over consumption, rethink what we buy, and choose durable or reusable items, we prevent unnecessary waste from entering the game entirely. It is a powerful play for a sustainable strategy when fewer materials extracted, fewer emissions, and fewer items ending up in landfills. It is the best game plan in the Bin Team's playbook!
Meet the Collections: Your Starting Lineup
Say hello to the all-star trio keeping Pointe-Claire clean, green, and waste-wise! Each bin has a mission, and your job is to send items to the right player. For complete information on the different collection services provided in Pointe-Claire visit the Collections page.
The Green Bin
The Most Valuable Player of waste reduction! The green bin transforms food scraps, yard trimmings, and natural materials into compost that nourishes our environment. Every peel, crust, core, or dinner leftover you toss in helps keep methane-producing organics out of landfills and nutrients back into the earth.

The Blue Bin
The blue bin loves printed paper, packaging and containers in cardboard, metal, plastic and glass that can be reused into new products. When you sort properly by rinsing containers or by flattened boxes before pitching into the blue bin, you help recyclables be clean and free of contamination and ready for a comeback season.

The Household Waste Bin
The household waste bin should only be used when no other option applies. Think of it as the bench in a hockey game: it’s where things go when they can’t be recycled, composted, donated, or otherwise recovered. The team’s goal? Keep it as empty as possible. Every item properly sorted into the green or blue bin is another win for Pointe-Claire.
