Changes to the Collection Schedule

News
Published on August 3, 2026 to 12:30 p.m.

In keeping with the objectives of its 2023–2030 Strategic Plan, the City of Pointe-Claire continues to implement initiatives that support our community's ecological transition while adapting municipal services to meet residents' evolving needs.

In recent years, climate trends have resulted in longer, milder autumns, with temperatures remaining above seasonal averages.

To better respond to this reality, the City is extending weekly household waste collection through the end of October. This change will provide a service that is better aligned with household needs while optimizing collection operations.

Beginning in December, organic waste collection will take place every two weeks. At that time of year, green bins generally contain less organic material due to the end of the yard waste season. This adjustment allows the City to adapt collection frequency without reducing the overall annual level of service or generating additional costs.

These changes contribute to a more efficient and responsible approach to waste management while ensuring municipal services remain aligned with seasonal needs.
