First Reading Squad in Pointe-Claire – bringing reading to citizens

News
Published on August 8, 2019 to 12:00 a.m.
Since the beginning of summer, several citizens have made an unusual encounter in the City's streets—a two-wheeled library. An initiative of the Pointe-Claire Public Library, the Reading Squad is travelling through the parks and along outdoor pools all summer long, bringing a relaxing literary break to those present.

This program brings books to citizens outside the traditional library walls and inside a reading tent, for instance, like the one set up at the Québec National Holiday and Canada Day celebrations.

Riding a bike in the city's colours, the squad has some wonderful discoveries in a surprise box: in addition to books and magazines for young and old, it also has bookmarks, reusable water bottles and raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes at the Summer Reading Party taking place at the Central Library at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21.

Seize the opportunity to turn a park or pool outing into a special personal or family discovery. Feel free to call the squad over if you spot them around the city; they'll have something that is sure to peak your curiosity!
