During Public Works Day, held last Saturday, May 23, the City of Pointe-Claire officially inaugurated its new Public Works building, following major renovation and reconfiguration work on the facility.

During a short ceremony, the Mayor and members of City Council highlighted the essential contribution of Public Works teams, as well as the improvements the new building brings in terms of operational efficiency and the delivery of municipal services.

“Pointe-Claire is moving forward. It is moving forward through concrete and sustainable investments made in service of its residents. By modernizing our buildings, we affirm our commitment to building a resilient city every day, ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow,” said the Mayor of Pointe-Claire, Mr. John Belvedere.

To mark the inauguration in a distinctive way and reflect the spirit of Public Works, the Mayor carried out a symbolic cutting by sawing through a PVC pipe. A commemorative plaque was also unveiled and will be installed at the building’s entrance.

Residents in attendance then had the opportunity to tour the new facilities through guided tours offered throughout the day.

At the centre is Mayor John Belvedere, surrounded by Councillors Ludovic Matthews, Cynthia Homan, Kelly Thorstad-Cullen, Claudine Demers, Andrew Swidzinski, Mike Potvin and Bruno Tremblay.

Improved Services

Built in 1978 on Donegani Avenue, the Public Works building plays a key role in the City’s field operations.

The renovation and redevelopment project, completed in several phases, took place from spring 2022 to fall 2025.

The expansion of the City of Pointe-Claire’s Public Works building aims to enhance services to residents by enabling a greater share of municipal vehicle repairs to be carried out in-house.
