Pointe-Claire Recognized for its Efforts in Biodiversity
Awarded as part of the organization’s Programme d’excellence pour la biodiversité (PEXBD), this recognition highlights the actions taken by the City to preserve and enhance biodiversity on its territory.
Pointe-Claire was awarded level 3, the highest level, and three stars out of a possible five. Obtaining a level 3 recognition indicates that the City has made significant progress in integrating biodiversity into its practices.
The three stars awarded reflect the quality and impact of the initiatives in the field.
What is PEXBD?
The Programme d’excellence pour la biodiversité is an initiative designed to support municipalities in the continuous improvement of their biodiversity protection practices.
It provides a reference framework that allows municipal organizations to evaluate their actions, exchange with other municipalities and move towards more sustainable management of their natural environments.
This program is based on an annual assessment using a series of indicators linked to the management and protection of biodiversity. To find out more about PEXBD, visit their website (in French only).
How Does the Evaluation System Work?
Qualitative indicators, associated with the number of stars obtained, assess activities (for example, the development of an action plan to combat invasive species).
These actions are part of a broader objective of strengthening the region’s ecological resilience and promote a healthy environment for its citizens.
Thank you to all City departments for working hard and continuing their efforts to enhance biodiversity in Pointe-Claire.
