Possible Water Pressure Drop and Discolouration in Districts 4, 6 and 7 – Sunday, November 16, 2025
The City of Pointe-Claire would like to inform you that valve closure tests by the City of Montréal will take place on Sunday, November 16, 2025, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
These tests may cause a temporary drop in water pressure and water discoloration in certain areas of Pointe-Claire.
Affected Areas
Residences located in the area bounded by Hymus Boulevard to the north, Douglas Hand Avenue to the south, Stillview Avenue to the west, and Maywood Avenue to the east.
What You Should Know
This situation is temporary and safe. Water pressure will return to normal once the tests conducted are completed.
If your water is coloured
This is a temporary and harmless coloration caused by the oxidation of iron (rust) in the water pipes.
Recommandations
- Open your cold-water tap (preferably in the bath or kitchen sink) and let it run until the water becomes clear.
- If your faucet has an aerator, remove it before running the water.
- Ensure the water runs clear before using hot water or water-operated appliances (e.g., washing machine, refrigerator dispenser).
- Avoid doing laundry during this period.
- If your clothes become stained due to coloured water, a cleaning product is available free of charge at the multiservice counter at City Hall.
