Netiquette
The Instagram account of the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) of the City of Pointe-Claire is a place for exchanges and information. We encourage you to participate in the various discussions while respecting our netiquette.
Rules of Use
To maintain a courteous atmosphere, certain rules of conduct are essential:
- Use respectful language and tone in comments and questions;
- Do not make insulting, defamatory, malicious, threatening, violent, or discriminatory remarks, whether in words, images, emoticons, or emojis;
- Respect privacy by not posting or mentioning confidential information, such as personal data;
- No solicitation of any kind is allowed, nor is any comment published repeatedly;
- The promotion or discredit of a political party, its representatives, a pressure group, or the authorities of the City of Pointe-Claire is prohibited;
- Messages must comply with laws and must not suggest or encourage illegal activities;
- Published information must be accurate, truthful, and compliant;
- Subscribers can share hyperlinks in their comments, provided they are related to the topics discussed;
- Exchanges should take place in both official languages, either French or English.
Moderation, Questions, and Comments
To ensure that subscribers have access to a constructive, respectful, and open exchange space, the YAC moderates all comments shared on its page. The views expressed by users are their own and are in no way endorsed by the Youth Advisory Committee.
Only questions and comments formulated in accordance with the netiquette will be considered for a response. Responses may be given publicly or privately, depending on their nature.
If comments do not comply with the netiquette, the City may intervene to enforce the rules of conduct. We reserve the right to delete any inappropriate comment that does not comply with the netiquette or social media rules. Depending on the comments made and in case of repeated non-compliance, the YAC may temporarily or permanently ban a subscriber from its account.
Depending on the nature of the comments, the YAC may be obliged to report the information to the competent authorities.
Official Languages
In respect of the bilingual status of the City, written messages are distributed in both official languages.
Internet users' comments can be written in either of the two official languages, and any response from the YAC will be written in the language used by the subscriber.
The YAC reserves the right to modify this netiquette without notice.
