The City of Montréal is responsible for air quality throughout the Agglomeration of Montréal. As an environmental expert, it develops policies, programs and action plans for the ecological transition.

Atmospheric pollutants are measured using cutting-edge technology, allowing the air quality index to be published in real time.

Montréal was a Canadian pioneer in air quality monitoring. Since 1969, thanks to its Réseau de surveillance de la qualité de l’air (RSQA), it has been an active participant in Environment and Climate Change Canada’s National Atmospheric Pollution Surveillance Program (NAPS).
