Press release
Published on November 5, 2026 to 5:17 p.m.

On Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Pointe-Claire Mayor John Belvedere and members of the Pointe-Claire City Council officially inaugurated the new building of the Pointe-Claire Volunteer Rescue Unit (PCVRU), as part of the organization’s 75th anniversary celebrations.

The Unit has relocated from its former building on Victoria Avenue in the Pointe-Claire Village to a newly renovated facility on Saint-Jean Boulevard, located next to the Inspection – Public Security building.

One of the main objectives of the relocation is to ensure the Unit's proximity to the Inspection – Public Security building, the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal's local police station, and the Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal fire station, centralizing Pointe-Claire’s emergency services and promoting greater coordination and collaboration among them.

The inauguration ceremony brought together current and former Unit members and their families, as well as the Baie-d'Urfé Rescue Squad, who have worked alongside PCVRU during major emergency situations and proudly serve the West Island community.

Director of the PCVRU, Mrs. Marianna Ferraiuolo, spoke on behalf of the Unit to highlight the commitment, dedication and passion the organization has demonstrated throughout its 75-year history. She also invited former long-time member and volunteer, Mr. Keith Kelly, to share his firsthand experience and anecdotes.

Mayor John Belvedere then addressed the attendees on behalf of the City of Pointe-Claire and City Council to underline the important role the PCVRU plays within the Pointe-Claire community:

“Today, we celebrate and pay tribute to an organization that has proudly been serving our residents for 75 years. The Pointe-Claire Volunteer Rescue Unit is a pillar of our community and an outstanding example of the positive impact of volunteers. We hope this new building will provide the accessibility and resources needed to support the Unit’s invaluable service to our residents for many years to come,” stated John Belvedere, Mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire."

Following the official inauguration, guests were invited to visit the new headquarters for the first time. The renovated facility has been adapted to accommodate the Unit’s needs and provides members with a practical space to conduct training and emergency preparedness exercises.

The ceremony concluded with a reception at Pointe-Claire City Hall, where commemorative plaques were presented to long-time members Graeme Maag, James Lapierre, David Skinner, and Keith Kelly in recognition of their many years of service and dedication to the organization.
