Mobility and Traffic Around the Fairview–Pointe-Claire REM Station
The City of Pointe-Claire would like to inform you that, in preparation for the opening of the Anse-à-l’Orme branch, the REM and the STM will be implementing various measures to ensure safe and efficient travel for all road users.
The majority of the changes carried out by the REM and the STM will take place along Fairview Avenue to better coordinate traffic in the area.
Reserved Lanes and Bike Paths
The STM will be implementing reserved lanes on Fairview Avenue. In the southbound direction, the reserved lane will be shared by buses and cyclists. In the northbound direction, the lane will be reserved exclusively for buses, with a separate bike lane to be added along the roadside.
Road markings are currently being completed, and the required signage will soon be installed along Fairview Avenue. All work will be finalized in the coming weeks.
Please note that it is prohibited at all times for motorists to use the reserved lanes.
Traffic Lights
During the summer, traffic lights will be installed at the intersection of Fairview Avenue and the station's access point, which runs alongside the REM terminal and drop-off area.
In accordance with the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable du Québec’s road signage standards, the traffic lights will initially operate in ‘flashing red mode’ for a transition period to remind drivers to make a full stop. The traffic lights will eventually become fully operational.
Access to Fairview–Pointe-Claire REM Station
Motorists and taxi drivers must access the REM station’s drop-off area through the Highway 40 service road. Access through Fairview Avenue is reserved exclusively for buses.
During the opening weekend, due to planned activities and an expected increase in traffic, participants are encouraged to use the temporary parking lot at the CF Fairview Pointe Claire shopping centre.
Please note that the station does not typically have a public parking lot and only provides 13 drop-off spaces. Stopping is prohibited on the Highway 40 service road and on Fairview Avenue.

Bus Terminal
As part of the bus network redesign, the STM will relocate the bus terminal currently situated at the CF Fairview Pointe Claire shopping centre.
As of May 18, the bus terminal will be moved under the Fairview–Pointe-Claire REM station.
