Pointe-Claire to Participate in Annual Drowning Prevention Week to Promote Water Safety
The City of Pointe-Claire is proud to be an ambassador for the Lifesaving Society’s annual Drowning Prevention Week once again this year. The 2025 edition will take place from July 20 to July 26, under the theme of ‘Safe Together’.
Drownings can occur in a matter of seconds, which is why knowing how to stay safe around water is of the utmost importance. This year’s campaign theme emphasizes the importance of never being in or around water alone, and to always have a friend, family member or lifeguard nearby.
Learning about Water Safety
The objective of the campaign is to raise awareness about drowning prevention and help encourage safety around water. The initiative will feature daily social media publications, each focusing on a different topic:
- Day 1: Deadly and Non-Deadly Drownings
- Day 2: Open Water
- Day 3: Pool Safety
- Day 4: Swim to Survive
- Day 5: Supervising Children
- Day 6: Alcohol and Drug Consumption
- Day 7: Boating Safety and Wearing a Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
