Update: Partial Closure of Cartier Avenue Due to Work by the City of Montréal

The City of Pointe-Claire has been informed that, contrary to previously communicated information, Cartier Avenue will be fully closed to traffic between Lanthier Avenue and Du Bord-du-Lac–Lakeshore Road from Friday, June 19 to Monday, June 22, inclusive. 

Please note that access to certain parking areas on Cartier Avenue will remain open, and access to businesses will be maintained.

This closure is necessary due to paving work being carried out by the City of Montréal.

Traffic and detours

During this period, Cartier Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Only local traffic will be permitted.

Motorists are encouraged to use the designated detour routes via Bord-du-Lac–Lakeshore Road, de Lourdes Road and Lanthier Avenue.

Access to the Pointe-Claire Curling Club parking lot will be maintained via Lanthier Avenue.

Pedestrians will be able to access and circulate through the area during the work.

Motorists are reminded to exercise caution, follow all posted signage and reduce their speed when approaching construction zones to ensure the safety of workers.

The City of Pointe-Claire has been informed that the City of Montreal will be carrying out sidewalk repair work on Cartier Avenue southbound, between Lanthier Avenue and Chemin du Bord-du-Lac–Lakeshore, from June 8 to 11, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Paving work is also scheduled for the week of June 15. The exact date will be posted in this construction notice. 

Traffic and detours

During the construction period, the southbound lane of Cartier Avenue will be closed. Traffic will be maintained in the opposite lane, beside the work zone. 

However, the southbound sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians.

Parking will be prohibited in the construction zone to ensure the work proceeds smoothly and to maintain site safety. Access to the Pointe-Claire Curling Club parking lot will remain available via Lanthier Avenue.

Motorists are asked to remain extra vigilant, follow the instructions on all signs posted, and slow down when approaching work zones to help ensure worker safety.
