Description

This lecture focusing on climate resilience in the face of significant precipitation will be presented by engineer Marcel Roy, who works as a technical advisor and in business development, and Kaleb Marris, a water resources expert from the JFSA organization.

The City is aware of the impact that these extreme weather events can have on local homes and infrastructure. With this presentation, we offer residents tools to better understand the City’s network and the rainfall events that were once considered rare but are becoming increasingly frequent as the climate changes.

The lecture will cover a number of topics. In particular, the presentation will:

  • Presenting the City’s stormwater and sanitation networks;
  • Describinge stormwater management during normal and heavy rainfall, sewer backups and surface flooding;
  • Explaining the return period and probability of rainfall recurrence;
  • Understanding your property's vulnerabilities to the impacts of climate change;
  • Suggesting actions that can be taken to protect your home and minimize the impact of climate change.
