Annual Drinking Water Sampling and Analysis Campaign by the City of Montréal
Each year, the City of Montréal tests the drinking water in residential areas to check for the presence of lead and copper, in order to meet the requirements of the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte Contre les Changements Climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP).
To do this, tests are carried out in selected homes. The City of Pointe-Claire invites residents to take part in this free campaign.
Who Can Participate?
Your home may be selected if it meets one or more of the following criteria:
- It has a lead water service line (or one is suspected);
- It was built before 1970 (and the service line has not been replaced);
- It is a residence with fewer than 8 units;
- It is a location that offers services to children aged 6 or under;
- A test was already done in 2020 or earlier.
How to Participate?
Contact the City of Pointe-Claire’s Engineering Department at 514-630-1208 or ingenierie@pointe-claire.ca by Thursday, July 16.
You will receive an appointment between July 30 and August 11, 2026.
What to Expect?
A staff member from the City of Montréal will come to your home to take a water sample. The appointment lasts about 45 minutes:
- 10 minutes to take the first sample;
- 30-minute waiting period (the technician will wait in their vehicle);
- 5 to 10 minutes to take the second sample.
Only 20 properties will be selected this year. If all spots are filled, your name will be added to the list for next year (2027).
Participants will receive their test results in fall 2026.
So far, all tests conducted in Pointe-Claire have shown that water meets the standards set by the MELCCFP.

We thank you for your collaboration.
