Call for Submissions – Stewart Hall Art Gallery

News
Published on May 1, 2025 to 4:05 p.m.

The Stewart Hall Art Gallery invites curators, artists and artist collectives to submit an exhibition project proposal for its 2026-2027 program.

The Stewart Hall Art Gallery is dedicated to presenting professional-calibre exhibitions in contemporary and current art through a program of varied and innovative exhibitions. The Stewart Hall Art Gallery supports a plurality of artistic approaches and practices and is committed to presenting diverse voices and perspectives. The Gallery is also keen to encourage community participation and create a dialogue with different audiences through a program of cultural mediation and educational activities.

Located in the attic of the Pointe-Claire Cultural Centre, the exhibition space presents an atypical and unique architecture and breathtaking view of Lake Saint-Louis. The architectural elements have a powerful presence (sloping walls, wooden beams and brick chimney) and movable walls make it possible to modulate the space according to the needs of the projects.

Curatorial projects and collective exhibitions are encouraged, in particular, because of the size and character of the space. For solo or duo exhibition projects, we ask that you explain how you will occupy the space of the Gallery. Also, a space in the secondary Gallery called the “project room” can accommodate smaller-scale projects, artist residencies or complementary projects to the main exhibitions.

Your project submission must include the following items:

- Up-to-date resume (and that of collaborators, if applicable);

- Description of artistic approach (max. 300 words);

- Detailed description of the project (max. 2 pages), including a description of the technical needs;

- Visual documentation with credits (Name of the artist, title of the work, date of creation, place of exhibition) (Maximum 15 images in JPEG format, 72 dpi);

- For video works, please add a link (VIMEO or YouTube) with instructions to watch the videos;

- Press kit and other documents deemed relevant (optional);

- For curators, the files must also include a resume and a presentation of the exhibitions with accompanying texts and publications, if applicable.

Important:

The information must be compiled in a ZIP file (10 MB maximum).

- For images, jpeg format is suggested, not exceeding 1 MB or 1024 x 768 pixels

- Number and identify each image with the title corresponding to the descriptive list

Conditions:

This Call for Submissions is intended only for professional artists under the Act respecting the professional status of artists (RSQ, chapter S-32.01).

Selected artists receive exhibition rights according to CARFAC standards.

The Stewart Hall Art Gallery encourages people from marginalized communities, Indigenous and racialized artists, artists of diverse abilities and artists from gender-diverse communities to apply.
