Wave of Outstanding Performances by Athletes from Our Sports Clubs

The City of Pointe-Claire takes great pride in having dedicated, passionate and high-performing athletes within its Aquatic and Canoe Kayak clubs. Over the course of the summer, several athletes from the various disciplines proudly represented Pointe-Claire at the provincial, national and international levels. 

Their personal accomplishments speak for themselves, but it is their continued commitment and hard work that are truly inspiring. 

The Canoe Kayak Club Shines in Numerous Competitions During the 2025 Season

Canada Games (St. John’s, Newfoundland, August 10 to 15)

The athletes from the Pointe-Claire Canoe Kayak Club excelled in the sprint events at the 2025 Canada Games, winning 10 out of the 13 medals for Team Québec. Émile Bouvier and Elliot Arnautovitch performed outstandingly in several canoe events (200 m, 500 m, 1000 m, and 5000 m), proudly representing Québec.  

Sprint National Championships (Regina, Saskatchewan, August 26 to 30)

Over 20 athletes from our Club competed in the 2025 National Sprint Championships and made their mark, including:

Elliot Arnautovitch, Émile Bouvier, Marcelo De Andrade, Vladimir Demishkevich, Cedric Liu, Émile Paquette, Samuel Jacobs, Théandre Legrand, Olive Archambault, Mia Forystek, Cédric Bourgeois, Édouard Pellerin, Tristan Buday, Sarah-Maude Barrette, Abigaelle Legrand, Ophélie Legrand, Sophia Moïse Dos Santos, Justin Nadeau, Ilia Priadko, Kaiya Leah Schade, Bradley Creamer, Ryan Creamer, Jeremi Sauvé, Diego Padron-Corbeil, Benjamin Dubé, Patrick Forystek, Kevin Sun, Zhile Xu, Angus Yim, Nadia Drapeau, Jesse Marynowycz, as well as coaches Rowan Hardy-Kavanagh, Eric Mihalovic, and Michael Thomas.

The competition featured sprint races in canoe and kayak ranging from 200 to 6,000 metres.

2025 World Cup

Émile Bouvier performed brilliantly at the national trials in May 2025, earning a spot at the World Cups in Szeged, Hungary, and Poznań, Poland.

Swimming Competitions and Standout Results By the Pointe-Claire Aquatic Club

Quebec Games (Trois-Rivières, Quebec, July 25 to August 2)

The Lac Saint-Louis delegation, consisting of 14 athletes from the Pointe-Claire Aquatic Club, finished in first place with a total of 40 medals! 25 of the medals earned by the team were won by our Club’s swimmers. 

The athletes who represented our Club were Sophie Auger, Bianca Baccus, Michelle Chen, Michael Chen, Katelyn Desjardins, Brenda Fang, Alexandra Lapointe, Matthew Li, Katarina Lindsay, Jerry Liu, Emerson McIver, Nikolas Moskun, Clementine Nicholson-Jodoin, and Mikaelle Pomerleau.

Canadian Short Course Championships (Sherbrooke, Quebec, August 7 to 10)

The Pointe-Claire Swim Club ranked second overall, and the women's team ranked first overall following strong performances from swimmers Hugo Janvier, Glen Omielan, Zachary Parise, Kamila Blanchard, and Rebecca McGrath. 

Canada Games (St. John’s, Newfoundland, August 10 to 15)

A combined six medals were won by our Pointe-Claire Swim Club athletes, who proudly represented Team Quebec at the prestigious event. The team consisted of Oliver Blanchard, Claudia Boily, Oliver Carpenter, Adrian Cheung, Jadyn Dagsaan, Taylor Ferguson, and Reilly Lefsrud. 

World Junior Swimming Championships (Otopeni, Romania, August 19 to 24)

Pointe-Claire athlete Kamila Blanchard represented the Canadian team, finishing 11th in the 200 m individual medley and 16th in the 200 m breaststroke, a remarkable performance on such a large stage.

FISU World University Games (Berlin, Germany, July 17 to 23)

Olympian Patrick Hussey, who represented the Pointe-Claire Swim Club and Team Canada, delivered strong performances, finishing 7th in the 200 m men's butterfly final, 11th in the 100 m men's butterfly semifinal, and 10th in the 200 m men's freestyle semifinal.  

He also set a new provincial record in the 200 m butterfly (senior men).

World Championship – Open Water (Singapore, Asia, July 16 to 20) 

Eric Brown, who represented Team Canada at this event, ranked 13th overall in the men's 5 km open water event, the top result by a Canadian, and advanced to the semi-final and placed 11th in the men’s 3 km knockout sprint.

World Aquatics Masters Championships (Singapore, Asia, July 26 to August 22)

Pointe-Claire athletes Mae Waldie, Helena Lui, and Talia Brott were remarkable at this competition, bringing home a combined six gold medals, one silver medal, and two bronze medal for their country. Hillary Hansen also notably finished 4th overall in the 5 km open water race. 

Diving Club Standout Athletes

We are proud to highlight Sonya Palkhivala, Adrian Insogna, Miles Nadeau, Alistair Nisbet, Sam McCaffrey, and Dean Calfacacos for their excellent performances over the past season. Their exemplary work ethic and passion have led them to stand out in several competitions, including the Quebec provincials, Junior Elite Nationals and Senior Nationals.
