Sewer System Cleaning – District 6

Published on June 12, 2026 to 8:35 a.m.

The City of Pointe-Claire would like to inform residents that preventive cleaning of the sewer system will be carried out over the coming weeks, Monday to Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Cleaning operations will start on June 15 in District 6 and are expected to continue until June 18. These dates may change depending on operational requirements.

This work is part of the City’s regular maintenance program for the municipal sewer network.

This notice will be updated regularly to provide information on the progress of work in each sector.

Possible Effects During the Work

The cleaning process may cause temporary odours, plumbing noises, wastewater backups, or minor splashing from toilets or floor drains, particularly in basements and on ground floors.

Crews use the minimum pressure required to reduce these effects. However, some risk remains despite these precautions.

Recommended Preventive Measures

Residents are encouraged to take the following precautions:

  • Ensure that your backwater valve is functioning properly;

  • Keep toilet lids closed when not in use, particularly in basements and on ground floors;

  • If the cleaning truck is present on your street, avoid using bathrooms whenever possible to help minimize the risk of backups.

Thank you for your cooperation.
