As part of its commitment to active mobility, the City of Pointe-Claire is working on expanding and developing its cycling network for the years to come. To date, Pointe-Claire has more than 20 km of bike paths, integrating into the vast 1,065 km network of the City of Montreal. Share the road!
Drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists, sharing the road is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of all users. Everyone has a role to play in ensuring that traffic flows smoothly and safely.
As a cyclist, make sure you are visible on the road by wearing fluorescent-colored clothing or with reflective strips. At nightfall or in low light conditions, equip yourself with a headlight or a white light at the front, a red light at the back, as well as reflectors on your wheels (front and rear) and on your pedals. To know all the details and comply with road regulations, we invite you to consult the SAAQ's webpage Bicycles and equipment: visibility and safety.
It is essential to respect traffic lights, stop signs, and right-of-way rules. Cyclists as well as drivers can receive fines. Before crossing an intersection or making a maneuver, make sure you are well seen by other road users. To do this, establish eye contact to confirm that they have spotted you and understand your intentions.
