Municipal Taxes

Each residential, commercial, and industrial property owner in Pointe-Claire receives a municipal tax bill as well as a water tax bill.

Notice to Notaries

  • You must inform the new owners of the dates of upcoming payments and the amounts to be paid.
  • You must adjust the water consumption used by the seller in the same way as the distribution of taxes, regardless of the property.

Your municipal tax account is mailed out during the month of January, while the water tax account is sent out during the month of September each year.

Municipal tax accounts are established based on the value of the property and are used to finance the municipal services offered to the citizens of Pointe-Claire (snow removal, culture, sports and leisure, collections, roadworks, etc.). Most tax accounts are payable in two installments, provided that the total amount is greater than $300.

  • First installment: February 6, 2025
  • Second installment: May 26, 2025

Payments

You can make your payments in four ways:

  • At the Multiservice counter of the City Hall (direct payment, check, or cash).
  • By sending a check by mail in the envelope provided with your tax account.
  • With your financial institution – Here is the list of major financial institutions that accept online payments:
  • By pre-authorized payment
    • When you enroll in the pre-authorized payment plan, each installment is directly debited from your bank account. If you remain the owner and your bank details do not change, no renewal is required. However, you must inform the City of any changes, including the sale of your property.
      Two pre-authorized payment plans are offered:
      • Installments at due date (according to your tax account)
      • Monthly installments* (12 installments – if your tax account is more than $300)
        *Monthly installments allow you to spread your payments over 12 months, from February to January of the following year. However, interest and penalty fees are calculated on the balances due on the two legal due dates.

The first year, the staff at the town hall tax counter will specify the monthly amount, including interest and penalty fees. Subsequently, the amount of your monthly payment will be indicated on your tax account.
