Reconstruction of Chestnut Avenue and Replacement of Streetlamps

From April to June 2026, reconstruction work will take place on Chestnut Avenue, in District 4 – Cedar Park Heights, between Douglas-Shand and Duke-of-Kent Avenues, to improve the roadway and modernize the lighting in the area.

Description

Location: Chestnut Avenue, between Douglas-Shand and Duke-of-Kent Avenues.

The work includes:

  • Complete reconstruction of sanitary, drinking water and rainwater services;
  • Reconstruction of foundation and road surface;
  • Replacement of streetlights with LED streetlights.

Timeline

Work begins: April 7, 2026

Work ends: June 19, 2026

Temporary drinking water supply

While the temporary drinking water system is in place, there may be interruptions to the water supply.

If this is the case, a door hanger will be distributed at the beginning and end of the boil-water advisory, along with detailed instructions.

What should I do during a boil-water advisory? 

Boil water for at least one minute before use (for drinking, cooking, washing fruit and vegetables, preparing baby bottles, etc.). 

Organic, recyclable and household waste collections

Organic, recyclable and household waste collections will take place as planned. The contractor will transport the bins and return them to their proper location.

Access limited to local vehicles

During certain phases of the work, such as the installation of mains and drinking water services, pavement reconstruction and curb construction, access will be limited to local vehicles.

Take care of your lawn!

If you are affected by the reconstruction work, corrective work will be carried out on your grass surfaces.

This work is guaranteed for one year.

We ask you to take good care of your lawn. A poster with maintenance information will be sent to you after installation.

Claims 

For all claims, you must complete the form available on the City’s website and submit it to the Legal Affairs Department and City Clerk’s Office (greffe@pointe-claire.ca) within 15 calendar days of the date of the incident.

As a precaution, we recommend that you take time-stamped photos of the interior and exterior of your home before work begins.
