Redevelopment Work at Terra-Cotta Park and Adjacent Green Spaces

This summer, the City of Pointe-Claire will carry out landscaping and stormwater management work in the Terra-Cotta Park area, at the intersection of Belmont, Glanlynn, Saddlewood, and Terra-Cotta Avenues.

Description

Location: Terra-Cotta Park

Budget: $2,095,980 taxes included

Contractor: Lanco Aménagement Inc.

The work includes:

  • Excavation in Terra-Cotta Park to create a concave area that can hold excess rainwater from the City’s stormwater system when it overflows;
  • Creation of a floodplain and redevelopment of the monarch butterfly garden to reintegrate the butterfly’s food and host plants;
  • With the soil excavated on Belmont Avenue, long mounds will be put in place to slow down the water coming from Terra-Cotta Avenue;
  • Creation of a ditch and water retention basin upstream of the homes on Glanlynn Avenue.

Drilling in Terra-Cotta Natural Park

Work begins: May 25, 2026

Work ends: October 15, 2026

The redevelopment work at Terra-Cotta Natural Park will be divided into four work zones.

Zone 1: Terra-Cotta Avenue

  • Construction of new grass-covered berms approximately 0.6 m high, installed at a minimum distance of 1 m from the fence.

Zone 2: Intersection of Belmont and Saddlewood avenues

  • Redevelopment of the ditch to prevent water from flowing toward the properties of Saddlewood Avenue residents.

Zone 3: Terra-Cotta Natural Park

Zone 4: Rear of Glanlynn Avenue

  • Construction of a ditch to prevent water from flowing toward the properties of Glanlynn Avenue residents.
