Description
Sumak Brass Band is a fiery five-piece Balkan brass band that has been performing on the stages and streets of Montreal since 2018. With saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tapan, and tuba, the group brings high-energy interpretations and festive of melodies from the southern Balkans. To the sound of the saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tapan, and tuba, Sumak Brass Band explores the traditional dance repertoires of Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, North Macedonia, and Albania. Both explosive and poignant, this style of music, rare in North America, transports audiences to the heart of Balkan celebrations, where energy and emotion combine in an irresistible whirlwind.
