Change in the Management of the City of Pointe-Claire
The Mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, John Belvedere, and the members of City Council announce the departure of City Manager, Ms. Karina Verdon. Council members and the management team wish to thank Ms. Verdon for her contributions and the accomplishments achieved during her tenure with Pointe-Claire.
In her role since November 2022, Ms. Verdon successfully fostered a collaborative work environment among teams. During her mandate, she led significant organizational changes, including the adoption of a strategic plan and the completion of several key initiatives aimed at strengthening the resilience of the City’s territory and infrastructure: a carbon footprint assessment, vulnerability study, and climate action plan. From an organizational perspective, she mobilized teams to improve processes and to promote continuous improvement in work methods.
“I would like to highlight her professionalism and the dedication she demonstrated throughout her time in Pointe-Claire. Ms. Verdon is a competent and principled manager. There is no doubt that major projects await her in the next stage of her career,” stated John Belvedere, Mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire.
At the regular meeting held on January 13, 2026, Mr. Gilles Girouard, Assistant City Manager, was appointed Interim City Manager by resolution of Council. This appointment took effect upon the adoption of the resolution.
