Delays in Waste Collection
The City of Pointe-Claire wishes to inform residents of a situation concerning the door-to-door waste collection. For some time now, a number of delays, cancellations and postponements have been reported for the collection of organic materials, recyclables and household waste. This situation was not intended by the City.
The company responsible for these collections is currently facing several operational issues, as well as major challenges in recruiting its workforce. These difficulties have led to delays in collection in recent weeks.
Please be assured that the City is in close communication with the contractor to identify solutions, reduce the inconvenience to residents and restore normal service as quickly as possible.
What should I do if my bin has not been collected?
1. Make sure collection instructions have been followed
Make sure you have followed the instructions: day and time of collection, positioning of bin, materials accepted, weight of bin, etc. All instructions are available in the Collections section of our website.
2. Check current notices
Before taking any action, we invite you to check the Notices and Alerts section of the website or the City’s Facebook page to see if any collection delays or postponements have been announced.
3. Report the situation if necessary
If all instructions have been followed, a notice has not been posted and your collection has not taken place, it is important to inform the Public Works and Buildings Department on the same day, or as soon as possible.
4. Leave the bin at the curb
When a collection cannot be completed on the scheduled day, it generally continues on the next working day. We therefore invite you to leave bins or items to be collected at the curb until the end of the collection period, unless otherwise indicated on the City’s website. In winter, we also ask you to ensure that your bin is clear of ice and snow and that its contents are not frozen to the sides.
Thank you for your understanding and patience during this period.
