Vandalism and Safety Incidents at Hermitage Park
Over the past few weeks, several disturbing incidents have been reported at the Hermitage Park chalet and surrounding area. These have included acts of vandalism such as a shattered window, an open window left unsecured, burned books, and graffiti.
These events raise serious concerns regarding public safety and the preservation of our shared community spaces.
Actions Taken by the City
The City of Pointe-Claire takes these incidents very seriously. In collaboration with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), an investigation is currently underway to identify those responsible. Increased surveillance will be implemented in the area, and security around municipal facilities will be strengthened.
We are calling on residents to stay alert. Any suspicious activity or unusual behaviour observed in or around the park should be reported immediately to the SPVM by calling 911.
A Shared Responsibility
Hermitage Park is a valued space for families, youth, and seniors alike. It is essential that everyone can enjoy it safely. We encourage all members of the community, parents, caregivers, educators, and residents of all ages, to engage in conversations about the importance of respecting public spaces, which are vital to our shared quality of life.
The City remains committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
