Pointe-Claire Unveils Communication Boards to Promote Inclusion in Its Parks

The City of Pointe-Claire, in partnership with the Lester B. Pearson School Board, held a dedication ceremony on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, for a communication board installed in Tony-Proudfoot Park. This initiative aims to make public spaces more accessible and inclusive for children and families.

A second communication board has also been installed at Northview Park, allowing more families to benefit from this facility.

This project was made possible through close collaboration between the City and the Lester B. Pearson School Board. The communication boards were designed by the School Board, which has allowed the City to use them in its parks so that the entire community can benefit from them.

What is a communication board?

Communication boards are visual and interactive tools that help children express their needs, participate in activities, and interact more easily with others. In particular, they can support children with autism or those who face communication challenges by offering them another way to make themselves understood.

This initiative is part of the City’s commitment to continuing its efforts to promote inclusion and accessibility in its public spaces. By providing children with an additional tool to communicate, participate, and make their voices heard, the installation of these boards is a concrete step toward ensuring that parks are more inclusive, accessible, and welcoming for everyone.
