Road Safety

Road safety should be everyone's concern! Whether driving, cycling or walking, it's important to respect the rules of the road.

Speed limits in Pointe-Claire

The speed limit is 40 km/h in all residential neighbourhoods across the territory, unless otherwise indicated. This speed limit is implemented to improve the road safety and to help lower the frequency of accidents caused by excessive speed.

The speed limit on Du Bord-du-Lac – Lakeshore Road, which runs across Pointe-Claire from west to east along Lake Saint-Louis, has a speed limit of 30km/h to accommodate the high volume of bike users and pedestrians.

It is important that road users must always respect the road signs in place.

Annual road safety campaign

The City puts into action a road safety campaign every summer, from May to October, to raise awareness for the importance of sharing the road and the right actions to take while driving, biking or on foot. The campaign includes the sharing of road safety information, road report statistics and key messages related to safe habits.

As part of this initiative, digital radar speed signs have been installed throughout the City to warn motorists about their speed, a measure aimed to improve safety in residential neighbourhoods.
