To enhance the appeal of the village of Pointe-Claire as a sought-after destination in the West Island, while highlighting its heritage, a new project was launched in 2013.
The City teamed up with Convercité, an agency expert in public participation and commercial revitalization, to diagnose the strengths, weaknesses, constraints, and opportunities for improvement of the village and to identify the main issues in urban planning and urban development in the village.
This first phase involved the participation of citizens, business owners, and community organizations. This diagnosis led to the development of a Special Planning Program (SPP), adopted in 2016.
Since then, the City has begun implementing the SPP with the refurbishment of Cartier Avenue, the development of a parking policy and a conservation plan for Pointe Claire, and the adoption of new urban planning regulations to both protect and revitalize the area.

To enhance the character of Valois Village as a welcoming, accessible, and safe living environment, while boosting its attractiveness as a commercial destination in the region, a new project was launched in 2016.
The City collaborated with Convercité, an agency specializing in public participation and commercial revitalization, to assess the strengths, weaknesses, constraints, and improvement opportunities of the village and to identify the main issues in terms of urban planning and urban development in the village.
The first phase involved the participation of citizens, business owners, and community organizations. This assessment led to the development of a Special Urban Planning Program (PPU).
During the second phase of the project, the City partnered with BC2, a company specializing in urban planning and urban development, to draft the PPU. It was presented to the community during a public consultation session in February 2017, adopted by the municipal council in May, and came into effect in September of the same year. The City immediately began its implementation.

Among the projects completed or underway, there are:
- a traffic study of the Chester and Donegani intersection
- a parking study of the sector
- a revision of urban planning regulations
- a landscape master plan and public domain development concepts
The Downtown PPU, in effect since February 2, 2018, offers a vision for the central territory planning of Pointe-Claire for the years to come. It will allow the City to guide projects likely to emerge in the short term and ensure the realization of the desired vision.
The downtown is bordered to the north by Labrosse Avenue, to the east by Selkirk Avenue, to the south by Sedgefield Avenue, and to the west by Stillview Avenue.
