Published on October 27, 2025 to 3:58 p.m.

The City of Pointe-Claire invites citizens interested in urban planning, architecture, construction, land use, heritage and urban landscapes to apply for membership on the Planning Advisory Committee (PAC).

Four (4) positions will be available to Pointe-Claire residents as of January 2026. The term of office is two (2) years, with the possibility of renewal.

This committee generally meets once a month to review planning applications. The main files analyzed are:

  • Site Planning and Architectural Integration Program (SPAIP);
  • Discretionary projects located in the Pointe-Claire Village core;
  • Minor exemptions;
  • Requests for exemption from providing parking spaces in the Village of Pointe-Claire;
  • Demolition of heritage buildings and preliminary reuse programs for cleared soil;
  • Specific Construction, Alteration or Occupancy Proposal for an Immovable (SCAOPI);
  • Requests for conditional use;
  • Comprehensive development plans (CPD);
  • Interventions within the heritage site of La pointe Claire (windmill area);
  • Modifications or revisions of by-laws concerning planning or regulations.

The PAC analyzes projects forwarded to it by either the Planning Department or the City Council. It transmits its recommendations in accordance with current by-laws. The final decision rests with the City Council or the Demolition Committee, as the case may be.

How to apply

Interested parties are invited to submit a letter of intent outlining:

·     Their relevant experience in urban planning, architecture, construction, regional planning, heritage or urban landscapes;

  • Their interest in these fields, as well as in urban design, climate change adaptation and sustainable construction;
  • Their willingness to analyze submitted files and take part in evening meetings at City Hall (451 Saint-Jean Boulevard).

The PAC plays an essential role in balanced land development and the protection of Pointe-Claire’s heritage and landscape. For this reason, a good knowledge of the different neighbourhoods and the issues related to Pointe-Claire’s development are essential to the committee’s operation.
