This Week, Let’s Reduce Our Waste Together!
The 2025 edition of the Semaine québécoise de réduction des déchets (SQRD), or Quebec Waste Reduction Week, focuses on encouraging citizens to adopt sustainable habits by producing less waste. This year, the SQRD has organized many free activities to support your efforts in waste reduction. You can view the list of events planned here.
Simple gestures go a long way toward reducing waste in your day-to-day life. Here are 4 easy-to-implement habits to reduce waste:
- Reduce single-use waste by choosing reusable products like bags, bottles, and containers.
- Before throwing away items, consider repairing them.
- Donating or repurposing items is also great options instead of sending them to the landfill.
- Purchasing pantry items in bulk and planning your meals goes a long way toward reducing food waste and saving money.
Every action matters and inspires others to create a positive collective impact. The SQRD website (in French) offers a wealth of resources – apps to download, guides and ideas to help everyone take action. The SQRD reminds us that real change begins at home, with thoughtful and sustainable choices. By reducing our waste, we protect the environment, preserve natural resources and improve the quality of life in Pointe-Claire.
