JAZZ
Throughout the idiom’s history, the conveyance of text has been a consistently powerful part of jazz music. From the female blues vocalists of the 1920s through the shouters and crooners and poet laureates of ensuing decades, meaningful words have been conveyed to jazz audiences alongside the exciting flurries of notes and rhythms the style is more generally known for.
