The City of Pointe-Claire appoints Benoit Filion as Director of Engineering

The Mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, Tim Thomas, and City Council members confirmed at a council meeting yesterday the appointment of Benoit Filion as Director of the Engineering Department.

Having held the position on an interim basis since October 12th, Mr. Filion demonstrated to the City Manager’s Office and the recruitment committee that he was the best candidate for the job.

“With more than 15 years of experience at the City of Pointe-Claire, City Manager Ms. Verdon and I are convinced that Mr. Filion will be able to continue the Engineering Department’s important mission: ensuring the longevity and proper functioning of all public facilities, with a view to sustainable development and improving citizens’ quality of life. We congratulate him and wish him the best of success in his new role,” said Mayor Tim Thomas.

Member of l’ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, Benoit Filion holds a diploma of college studies in civil engineering technology and a Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering. He began his career in 1999 as a site supervisor for Vallée Lefebvre et associés in Laval, then obtained the position of civil engineering technician at the City of Pointe-Claire in 2000, where he held the position of project engineer between 2005 and 2007. After brief stints with the City of Kirkland and the City of Montreal, he returned to the City of Pointe-Claire in the fall of 2007 in the Engineering department as head of division. He became a planner in 2013 in the Engineering and Buildings department, and finally a planner, strategic control before being appointed interim director of the Engineering Department. During his career at Pointe-Claire, he held the position of interim director three times.
