Remembrance Day: A ceremony to honour our veterans
The Mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, Tim Thomas, and the members of the municipal council invite all citizens to take part in the Remembrance Day commemoration ceremony on Sunday, November 10, starting at 10:30 a.m. For the occasion, the entire Pointe-Claire community is invited to wear a poppy, a symbol associated with the memory of those who died in the war to defend the freedoms we still enjoy every day.
The ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the cenotaph behind City Hall, a monument built in the memory of fallen soldiers. Flags will be flown at half-mast for the occasion. They will also be lowered for Remembrance Day on November 11.
This annual commemoration is part of our collective duty to respect the efforts of those who sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom. It is a way of underlining, both symbolically and tangibly, their contributions towards freedom fighting, so that we can live in peace.
