700 athletes participating at a swimming competition this weekend

The City will welcome 700 young athletes at the annual AA-AAA Provincial Invitational at the Pointe-Claire Aquatic Centre from December 7 to 10.

These athletes, aged 11 and up, are among the most accomplished in Eastern Canada and will compete in individual and relay events in various distances and in four competitive swimming strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

166 athletes will represent the Pointe-Claire Swim Club during this four-day competition.

“We are proud to host this major competition every year that welcomes talented young athletes who dedicate a lot of time and effort in their quest for excellence. We invite residents to encourage these young athletes throughout the competition,” stated Mayor Belvedere.

The competition begins on Thursday, December 7, at 5 p.m. Preliminary heats will take place Friday to Sunday starting at 9 a.m., and finals will start at 5 p.m. on the same days. Admission is free at all times.
