Come Meet The Pointe-Claire Athletes Who Participated In The Tokyo Olympic Games
The City of Pointe-Claire invites citizens to come meet the Pointe-Claire athletes who participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 8, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. outside the Pointe-Claire Aquatic Centre. In accordance with Public Health guidelines, registration is mandatory and the vaccination passport will be required to participate in the event.
From the Pointe-Claire Aquatic Club in diving, Jennifer Abel, Meaghan Benfeito, Vincent Riendeau and Nathan Zsombor-Murray, from the Pointe-Claire Canoe Kayak Club in kayaking, Lissa Bissonnette, and the Pointe-Claire resident and athlete from the DDO water-polo club, Joëlle Békhazi, will be on site to meet the young and not-so-young, sign autographs and pose for photos. Diving athlete Caeli McKay is unable to attend the event. In the context of the pandemic, the athletes will only be able to sign the cards they have in their possession, which they will then give to participants.
“These athletes are a source of inspiration for our entire community and for our young people who are training, working hard and dreaming of one day representing Canada in the Olympic Games. We’re happy to create a special moment for young people to be able to talk with their idols. Come meet them on September 8,” said Mayor John Belvedere.
