Terra-Cotta Natural Park – Annual work to ensure safety and preserve ecological value

The City of Pointe-Claire would like to inform residents that preventive work will be performed over the next few weeks at Terra-Cotta Natural Park to ensure users’ safety and preserve the ecological value of this urban woodland. Certain parts of the trails will be closed temporarily.

This annual preventive work involving pruning and felling of dead, diseased or declining trees  is performed by arboriculture experts following an assessment by a forest engineer in order to limit operations in the park while ensuring the safety of all users.

Debris from felled trees will be left on the ground to be used as shelter by small mammals and insects and to act as nutrients for the soil.

The trails will be open again this winter for winter sports such as snowshoeing and hiking.
